Part of the FIN/JPN collection, which celebrates 100 years of diplomatic relations between Finland and Japan, the Secrets of Finland family is beautifully symbolic. Each of the handcrafted ceramic objects represents and celebrates a seasonal ritual on the Finnish calendar such as Easter, Midsummer, and St. Lucia Day. The sweetly simple yet expressive designs are meant to evoke the pagan past of Finland, and were achieved through close collaboration with COMPANY founders Aamu Song and Johan Olin. Collect all six to tell the full story or gift one that has meaning to someone you share sacred traditions with.
This piece commemorates St. Lucia Day, which is celebrated in Finland on December 13th. That evening, thousands of Finnish girls dress up as Lucia the light-bringer in a white gown, red sash, and candlelit crown to combat the darkness of winter. Lucia holds three candlesticks while the smaller version, Lucius, holds a single light.
