Artek Secrets of Finland: Midsummer Dream Vase

Part of the FIN/JPN collection, which celebrates 100 years of diplomatic relations between Finland and Japan, the Secrets of Finland family is beautifully symbolic. Each of the handcrafted ceramic objects represents and celebrates a seasonal ritual on the Finnish calendar such as Easter, Midsummer, and St. Lucia Day. The sweetly simple yet expressive designs are meant to evoke the pagan past of Finland, and were achieved through close collaboration with COMPANY founders Aamu Song and Johan Olin. This piece pays ode to an age-old Midsummer tradition. Finnish folklore says that if a girl collects seven wildflowers and sleeps with them beneath her pillow, her future husband will reveal himself in her dreams. This vase includes an insert with seven holes to accommodate the stems for a splendid display.
