Artek Karuselli Lounge Chair

The Karuselli Lounge Chair was designer Yrjö Kukkapuro's way of combining function, ergonomics, and organic form for maximum comfort. He got the idea for the design when building "snow chairs" with his daughter outside. Kukkapuro spent years sculpting the chair to achieve the perfect dimensions, echoing the shape of the human body. In 1964, he completed the iconic form. The design was an immediate success, and two years later it was chosen by Gio Ponti to grace the cover of Domus. Sir Terence Conran has even proclaimed the Karuselli to be his favorite chair. The base and shell is crafted from fiberglass, with a steel brace that allows it to swivel. The seat is upholstered in Sörensen Prestige leather, in your choice of red, black, or white.
